Dad Delivers Twin Baby On Staircase
The family only learned last week that they were having twins, and on Thursday this Orange County dad helped his wife deliver one of them.
TUSTIN, CA — An Orange County dad helped his wife deliver one of their newborns on the stairway of their Tustin home an Orange County Fire Authority spokesperson told Patch, Thursday.
Father Samir Rai was getting his wife, Jasmine, ready for the hospital, when she went into "hard labor" inside their home.
"The mother, 37-weeks along in her pregnancy," OCFA Capt. Tony Bommarito told Patch. She was not aware she was having twins until late last week.

She sat down on the stairs, and was "yelling and screaming, 'I'm having a baby right now!'" Samir Rai told NBC4LA reporters.
He saw the head, and delivered the first baby while his wife sat on the stair steps.

OCFA medics arrived on the scene, took baby from the mom and cut the cord, he said.
The first baby was taken by ambulance to OC Global Hospital, and the mother was transported in a separate ambulance when medics noticed the second baby was in a breech (or feet first, face down) position.
"Medics were able to provide an airway to allow mom to "push hard enough" to deliver the second baby in the ambulance. "It was a life-threatening emergency for the baby."
The father was proud but in shock from the experience, according to Bommarito said.
Mom is currently listed as "critical, stable" in the Intensive Care Unit, and was expected to recover.
"He said he'd never done something like that before," Bommarito told us.
"It was a magical moment, but one of the craziest moments of my life," Rai said. "I'm just happy they are both healthy."
