Video Shows Marine Veteran Fighting Off Follow-Home Robbers In OC

The military veteran fought off two men who followed him home and pepper sprayed him in a robbery attempt, reports say.

FULLERTON, CA — A military veteran fought off two follow-home robbers who pepper sprayed him in a brazen robbery attempt, ABC7 reported.

The incident was reported at around 12:30 p.m. in the 1000 block of W. Las Palmas on Sunday in Fullerton, the report said.

The alarming scene was captured on video that showed the suspects approach the victim before pepper spraying him and pushing him in his garage. Seconds later, the Marine veteran fought back and ran the robbers out and down his driveway.

Investigators believe that the Republic of Korea Marine Corps veteran and his wife were followed home from church and Home Depot that Sunday.

"My dad was kind of confused because they came around him real quick," The unidentified victim's son told ABC7. "They peppered sprayed him all over. Thank God he had glasses. I think it gave him a little bit of the ability to fight back. He fought back hard and I think they were caught off guard because someone that old would fight back."

The robbery attempt happened just weeks after two Marines were beaten by a group of teens near the San Clemente Pier over Memorial Day Weekend.

The incident was captured on a minute-long video, which has since circulated online. In the video the Marines are seen on the ground trying to shield themselves from the attack.
