SANTA ANA, CA — A 75-year-old woman was arrested Thursday after disturbing video showed her abandoning a puppy before running it over with her car, police said.

"A nearby resident reported seeing a minivan parked near the location and believed the female driver intentionally ran over the puppy," police said in a statement.
According to the Santa Ana Police Department, video shows a woman — later identified as Hahn Nguyen — removing the puppy from a blue or green Honda Odyssey at about 9:15 a.m. and placing it under the vehicle on 926 W. Park Ln.
Nguyen then put dog food near the driver's door and slowly drove forward as the puppy approached the food, police said.
According to police, "the puppy was then run over by the rear driver's side tire, and the vehicle remained stopped on top of the puppy for approximately 15 seconds before leaving northbound on Lowell Street."
The puppy died as a result of his injuries, police said.
Video of the incident was posted to social media Wednesday by the department in an effort to identify the woman.
