Woman Hiking In Blackstar Canyon Texts '911' For Help... They Answered
While hiking on a blazing hot day in a remote South Orange County canyon, a woman in medical distress sent out a 911 text message for help.

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA — Orange County Fire Authority firefighters answered the call for a hiker in medical distress, a spokesperson reported over Twitter Wednesday.
The call was received through text to 911, a service available in Orange County, according to the OCFA spokesperson.
Medics helicoptered in to locate the hiker in the Blackstar Canyon area and were able to the site to evaluate her condition, they said.

"OCFA's Helicopter 2 team located the hiker and safely landed in the area," they said. "Firefighter paramedic rescuers from HC2 assessed the hiker and determined she was stable."
She was flown to a waiting ambulance and E42 firefighter paramedics who took her to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Assistance for the woman's remote rescue was provided by both the Orange County Sheriff's Department and Duke 7 helicopters.
