Woman Jumps From Moving Minivan, Dies From Injuries

Why did she jump? Officers are seeking answers why an Anaheim woman fled a moving minivan overnight in Brea.

BREA, CA — A woman jumped from a moving minivan overnight and died from related injuries, according to officials. The Anaheim resident, believed to be in her 20s, jumped from the tan minivan while it was driving at just before 1:30 a.m. on Monday morning, according to Brea Police Department Sgt. Chris Haddad.

The woman was a passenger in the vehicle that was driving down Imperial Highway at Laurel Avenue, according to Haddad. For unknown reasons, she jumped from the moving car. The injured woman was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange where she was pronounced dead.

It is not known as of this report how fast the car was driving at the time of the incident.

The van did stop briefly and two women attempted to render aid to the injured woman, witnesses said. The male driver then drove off, and was later identified and questioned by authorities.

"(The driver) has been cooperative with police," Brea Police Department Lt. Adam Holly said.

No charges are pending, according to police.

Brea Police detectives still don't know what prompted the victim to leave the vehicle, and are continuing the investigation.
