Woman Killed, Man Injured During Single-Vehicle Crash In Garden Grove

GARDEN GROVE, CA — A woman was killed and a man suffered life-threatening injuries during a single-vehicle fiery crash Saturday morning in Garden Grove, authorities said.

Officers dispatched about 3 a.m. to the intersection of Knott Street and Acacia Avenue located a white 2007 Toyota Highlander that had struck a utility pole at the southeast corner of the intersection, said Garden Grove police Sgt. Thomas Capps.

"The vehicle had caught fire, and the male driver and female passenger were both unconscious," Capps said.

Firefighters extricated the man, who was rushed to UCI Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, he said.
