Worker Dies Underground At OC Excavation Site, Firefighters Say

ORANGE COUNTY, CA — A man died Wednesday at the scene of an excavation worksite in Orange County, authorities said.

Orange County firefighters were sent to the 9800 block of Newport Avenue at about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Tustin in response to a "medical emergency," the OC Fire Authority said in a statement.

The man, believed to have been a worker, was underground in an excavation. He was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. Information on his identity was not readily available.
