Wrong-Way Crash Kills Man On 55 Freeway
The man was driving southbound on the northbound side of the 55 Freeway when he crashed into at least one vehicle.
ORANGE COUNTY, CA — A man driving a white SUV southbound in northbound lanes of the Costa Mesa (55) Freeway died after crashing into at least one vehicle, authorities said Monday.
The incident was first reported at 10:35 p.m. Sunday in the No. 1 lane of the northbound 55 near Bison Avenue. The vehicle came to rest under the Corona del Mar (73) Freeway overpass, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Paramedics were working to save the driver's life, the CHP stated at 11:22 p.m.

A SigAlert was issued at 11:22 p.m., shutting down northbound lanes through the area. The far right lane was opened at 12:16 a.m. Monday.
