The Wrong-Way Tesla Drove At High Speeds On AN OC Street before The Crash, Witnesses Say

Three people were injured and trapped inside their cars in the Tesla crash where the driver was thought to be speeding.

BUENA PARK, CA — A Tesla being driven in the wrong direction at high speeds down a busy Orange County street Tuesday sparked a six-car crash that injured at least three people, Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Greg Barta said.

Orange County Fire Authority arrived at the crash scene in Buena Park, at the Beach Boulevard and Orangethorpe Avenue intersection, just after 4 p.m.

Firefighters freed two injured victims, including at least one person trapped inside the Tesla, which had flipped and was on its roof.

"Three people were taken to the hospital by ambulance," Barta said. "Their condition was not released."

The cause of the crash is under investigation by the Buena Park Police Department, and it is unknown whether alcohol or drugs were used by the driver of the Tesla.

Eastbound Orangethorpe between St. Pius and Beach was closed into the night as officers worked the scene.
