Friends Middle School Fills Back Packs For Containers Of Hope

Students from Friends Christian Middle School of Yorba Linda packed backpacks for those in need, to be delivered through Containers of Hope.

YORBA LINDA, CA — On October 26, Students at Friends Christian Middle School (FCMS) collected nearly 500 backpacks filled with school supplies, hygienic items, toys, bibles and notes, that will be sent with a team traveling to Liberia with Containers of Hope this Spring.

“Liberia has been rated as the second poorest country in the world. We at Containers of Hope have heard the cries and seen firsthand the suffering of children in Liberia in profound and shocking ways. After 12 years, we continue to stand in awe of how God has moved the hearts of students at Friends Christian School to look beyond themselves and touch these suffering children through the gift of backpacks,” shared Todd and Jana Williams, founders of Containers of Hope.

Students were given the option to fill a backpack (or two) for a girl, boy or a teacher in Liberia. After praying over each backpack and its recipient, students and their families were provided a list of recommended items and set off to fill each backpack.

"Containers of Hope was and is our cause, our gift from God. Today my heart is so blessed and utterly amazed at the thousands of students and families that have participated in filling backpacks, over the years, for kids in Liberia. Over 4 thousand kids lives have been changed because our students and their families listened to God! I love that!” said Kim Forrest, FCMS Art Teacher & ASB Advisor.

“Without the continued partnership with Friends Christian Middle School and additional partnering schools, we would not be able to reach the 10’s of thousands of impoverished children in the hardest to reach areas of Liberia. Their enthusiasm, passion and dedication is contagious and inspiring. We applaud them for making what we have been called to do possible,” added Williams.
