• Day of Hope Taking Place to Help Support Central Coast Cancer Patients (slopulse.com) — Orcutt is one of the main hubs for the Day of Hope fundraiser, where volunteers sell special newspapers to support local cancer patients. Most sales happen in Santa Maria and Orcutt, with proceeds funding Mission Hope Cancer Center services in Santa Maria and Arroyo Grande. Donations can still be made online through Sept. 18.
