The county coroner’s list highlights residents from several Peninsula cities and offers a reminder that families can post full obituaries separately.
• Officials Call For Federal Funding To Repair Pacifica Pier Damage (patch.com) — Pacifica’s Municipal Pier remains closed after a major crack led to its shutdown and the demolition of the Chit Chat Cafe, prompting a local emergency declaration. Rep. Sam Liccardo is pressing FEMA for funding and deadline extensions for key Pacifica shoreline protection projects, arguing that delayed federal support has worsened risks to the pier, seawall, Esplanade bluff, and nearby homes and businesses.
• El Niño Could Bring ‘Disruptive Coastal Flooding' to Bay Area This Winter (kqed.org) — Expect a stormier winter and higher coastal flood risk that specifically includes Pacifica, as a strong El Niño and long-term sea level rise combine to push water levels much higher during big storms and high tides. Scientists warn that temporary sea level jumps of up to two feet, stacked on existing rise, could turn routine high-water days into disruptive flooding events along our coast.
