DALY CITY, CA — Seven people were displaced after a fire broke out at a Daly City home late Friday, spreading from the garage to the second floor and damaging neighboring houses, fire officials said.
North County Fire Authority crews responded to the fire in the unit block of Marshall Way just before midnight and found smoke coming from the garage and second floor of the two-story home.
Two vehicles parked in the driveway were also on fire, according to the fire authority.
All seven occupants evacuated safely. Firefighters searched the house and confirmed no one else was inside.
The fire started in the garage and spread to the second-floor dining room and living room, officials said. The rest of the house sustained major smoke damage.
When firefighters arrived, neighboring homes on both sides of the burning residence were beginning to catch fire. Both sustained minor smoke and fire damage.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation Saturday.
The displaced residents were making their own arrangements for alternative housing, according to the North County Fire Authority.
