Restaurant Review: Modo Mio (Amico Mio)
Brief restaurant review of local restaurant- Modo Mio.
There are certain events on which I can rely living in the Palisades. If I want to sleep in past 7AM on a Saturday morning, I can be assured that the feral, emerald parrots of the Palisades will land in force in our Eucalyptus tree to sound the early morning alarm. If I go to CVS pharmacy to pick up my prescription drugs, I know that I will be able to get through several chapters of “War and Peace” before I reach the front of the line.
Add to that list of items on which I can place my trust is the restaurant Modo Mio on La Cruz and Sunset Blvd. I am neither rich nor famous, but when I enter Modo Mio, I can count on the hosts, James or GianFranco, to make me feel as if I have come home to my dining room in Tuscany. The servers know about my fondness for cabernet and my wife’s penchant for strong iced tea with mounds of sliced lemon. I can count on perfect pasta, wonderfully prepared fish, and delicate, sensual, and aromatic veal, chicken, and steak. I can count on Bocelli being played in the background singing “Dell’ Amore Non Si Sa”.
Yes, Modo Mio brings order to my chaotic world and gives me the hope that that on Saturday morning I will be able to sleep through the blasts of nail gun cacophony emanating from the construction site across the street from my house, or that perhaps the driver of the bulldozer next door to my house will take the day off. After all, despite my remonstrations, progress in the Palisades never ceases.
