Brush Fire Threatens Pacific Palisades Homes
The forward progress of a fast moving brush fire that threatened homes in the Pacific Palisades area has been halted.
PACIFIC PALISADES, CA — A fast-moving brush fire threatening homes in the Pacific Palisades area prompted an aggressive response from firefighters Monday afternoon when it briefly threatened homes in the area.
The fire broke out near the 500 block of North Palisades Drive in the Pacific Palisades area at about noon. The Los Angeles Fire Department declared the blaze a "Major Emergency incident," because the flames moved quickly amid dense brush uphill toward a residential area.
More than 100 firefighters, including air crews, stopped the forward progress of the flames within about an hour, the LAFD reported. Some crews remained at the scene mopping up.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
"The fire is burning uphill, threatening homes (number unknown) at the top of the hill. Air Ops water drops are currently focused on the homes and defending them while firefighters work to get through the brush to continue extinguishment at the head of the fire," LAFD Public Information Officer Margaret Stewart said as the fire broke out.
