Flooding, Pile-up Clog 405 Freeway At West LA/Sepulveda Pass

The rain caused havoc on the 405 Freeway in the West LA and Sepulveda Pass areas Wednesday afternoon.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Flooding and a series of pileups jammed the rain-soaked San Diego (405) Freeway in the Sepulveda Pass and West LA area just after 1 p.m. Wednesday.

The California Highway Patrol issued a SigAlert for the eastbound 90 transition to the 405 North in West LA due to flooding in the fastlane at 1:07 p.m. The fast lane is estimated to stay closed for about a half hour.

At the same time, a three-car pile-up blocked the right two lanes of the southbound 405 Freeway at Skirball Center Drive at 1:04 p.m. CHP officials did not have an estimate for when the crash scene would be cleared up.
