Former Cedars-Sinai Doctor Accused Of Sexual Assault
A 34-year-old doctor who worked at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center was arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a co-worker.
LOS ANGELES, CA — A contract physician who worked at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center was free Friday on $100,000 bail following his arrest on suspicion of felony sexual assault.
Dr. Anshul M. Gandhi was arrested Wednesday about 8 p.m. in the 5200 block of Wilshire Boulevard near South La Brea Avenue, according to Officer Drake Madison of the Los Angeles Police Department.
Gandhi, 34, was booked on suspicion of forced oral copulation, and was released about 4 a.m. Thursday after posting $100,000 bail, according to Madison and Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department jail records.

NBC4 reported that the arrest stems from an allegation that Gandhi sexually assaulted a co-worker inside her apartment near downtown Los Angeles.
"I think the police acted very inappropriately and a rush to judgment," Gandhi's attorney, former prosecutor Michael Kraut, told Channel 4. "He gave a voluntary statement, gave voluntary DNA to the police department, and gave them clues where they should look to show that the victim is absolutely making this story up."

Cedars-Sinai officials said Gandhi no longer is affiliated with the hospital, but did not say when the arrangement ended.
"He has never been a Cedars-Sinai employee, but formerly provided services as a contract physician," a hospital spokesperson told the station.
The Medical Board of California issued a statement saying it "is aware of the allegations against Dr. Gandhi and is looking into them. No further comment or information can be provided as the board's investigations and complaints are confidential by law."
No criminal charges had been filed against Gandhi as of late Friday afternoon.
