Gas Leak Triggers Pacific Palisades Evacuation, School Shutdown
More than 100 people were evacuated from a nearby condo complex and students at a school were sheltering in place.

PACIFIC PALISADES, CA — Construction crews damaged a 3-inch gas line in Pacific Palisades Monday, prompting an evacuation of an apartment building and a shelter-in-place order at a nearby school, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
No illnesses or injuries have been reported, but shortly before 5 p.m., the area around the 17300 block of West Tramonto Drive was cleared out of an abundance of caution, said Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Authorities had a nearby school shelter in place, but the order was lifted by 5:30 p.m. when the leak was shutdown.

"The nearby upwind school where an unknown number of occupants are being safely sheltered in place alongside firefighters, is known as "Chabad of Pacific Palisades," Humphrey said at the time.
