LOS ANGELES CA — A 400-acre blaze burning in the Santa Monica Mountains near the Getty Center forced the closure of dozens of school Monday morning as thousands of families were forced to evacuate their homes.

According to the City of Santa Monica, all classes in the Santa Monica Malibu Unified School District were cancelled Monday. The private John Thomas Dye Elementary School at 11414 Chalon Road in Bel-Air will also remain closed Monday.

UCLA announced it is canceling classes Monday. According to the university, the fire poses no immediate threat to the campus, but members of the campus community live in evacuation areas or may be impacted by closures. Employees should report to work if they can arrive safely, according to university officials.
