LOS ANGELES, CA — Five Los Angeles County beaches have unhealthy levels of bacteria this week, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health warned Tuesday.

When bacteria levels exceed health standards, authorities urge residents to use caution when planning to swim or surf in the water.

  • Malibu Lagoon at Surfrider Beach;
  • Santa Monica Pier.
  • Inner Cabrillo Beach in San Pedro;
  • Ballona Creek at Dockweiler State Beach, near Dockweiler Tower 40;
  • Mother's Beach in Marina del Rey; and
