Injured Hiker Airlifted From Trail North Of Will Rogers State Park

The man's remote location led firefighters to fly in, rather than hike, to rescue the 64-year-old.

PACIFIC PALISADES, CA — An injured man was airlifted from a trail north of Will Rogers State Historic Park Sunday afternoon after he sustained a non-life threatening injury, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The 64-year-old hiker was airlifted due to his remote location, about a mile north of Inspiration Point on Backbone Trail. Firefighters responded to the area after a 911 call at around 1:19 p.m. Sunday. The man was hoisted onto a helicopter and transported to a local hospital for treatment, according to the LAFD.
