Pacific Palisades Photographer Featured in Downtown Exhibit
Called "The Reign of Moonlight," Karen Bellone's work highlights how the moon "affects all of us on earth," she says.

From a press release:
The Reign of Moonlight, an exhibition of photography by Karen Bellone of Pacific Palisades, continues through Oct. 19 at The Reef in downtown L.A.
An accomplished photographer and filmmaker, Bellone says, “I am fascinated not only by the mystery of the moon, but also how it affects all of us on earth. To paraphrase Harold Pinter, people speak and act differently at night - why is that? It is because of the moon and it’s reflected light.”
Although The Reign of Moonlight is an exhibition of photography exclusively, the project was created during an extensive period of development on a film about Edgar Allan Poe. Karen is often frustrated by verbal language in general, but mining the depths of Poe’s character brought her to a new level of desire to express the supernal beauty of the moon with only imagery.
She became obsessed with following the cycles of the full moon and chased them over the last two years in many different locations, from her home in Los Angeles to New York, Kauai, Paris and Venice. “Following the moon waning and waxing over the many months has changed me. I didn’t know how deeply beneficial and clarifying it would be for me to meditate on the moon and fall into her sway. I am looking forward to seeing how transformative these images might be for the viewer too.”
The Reign of the Moon continues Tuesdays through Saturdays from noon to 5p.m. through Oct. 19 at The Reef, 1933 S. Broadway, 12th floor. Suite 1244. For further information, call 818-516-5939.
