Pacific Palisades Resident Selected as the New Associate Vice President of Institutional Advancement for The Chicago School
Faris is charged with overseeing all university advancement activity and will provide leadership in Alumni Relations and College Affairs.

(LOS ANGELES) (MAY 15, 2017) Long-time Pacific Palisades resident Mickie Faris has been selected as the new Associate Vice President of Institutional Advancement at the Los Angeles campus of The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, one of the leading nonprofit graduate universities devoted exclusively to the study of psychology, and related behavioral health services. In her new role, Faris is charged with overseeing all university advancement activity across six campuses—Los Angeles, Irvine, San Diego, Chicago, Washington D.C. and Online—and will provide leadership in Alumni Relations and College Affairs.
“I am excited to be part of one of the nation’s leading psychology schools with over 4,300 students across the country, more than 20 graduate degree programs, and 8 institutes and centers. I am also amazed at the level of international work taking place. Our students represent 77 countries and we work with 14 international partners with multiple study abroad opportunities in over 9 countries,” said Faris. “And here at home, we provide counseling and mental health services to children, individuals and families at our counseling center in Westwood. A resource I wish I had known about when our children were younger,” Faris added.
During her career span, Faris has served as the Vice President of Advancement for Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services, and also Vice President of Advancement for UCLA’s Orthopedic Institute for Children. Additionally, she has led fundraising teams at the University of Southern California and the Center for Healthy Aging.

Faris has secured close to $300 million from fundraising during her career, and taught fundraising and nonprofit management at UCLA for eight years. Furthermore, she has also held executive roles at such nonprofit stalwarts as the American Red Cross and the National Kidney Foundation. Also a writer, Faris authored a book on kidney disease that is in its fourth edition and sold around the world. Faris earned an M.B.A from Pepperdine University, and an M.P.H. from California State University at Northridge.
