Palisades Debris Flow Displaces Eight People
A family of eight were evacuated from their home after a hillside sloughed off Sunday night.

PACIFIC PALISADES, CA — A family of eight was displaced Sunday night after a small hillside sloughed off and hit their Palisades home, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The "slough off" occurred on a hillside about 100 feet by 200 feet in area around Las Lomas Avenue just before 8 p.m. Sunday. A "slough off" is a loosening of the uppermost layers of soil on a hillside, according the the LAFD.
The soil made contact with a downhill home, displacing four adults and four children, who will stay with loved ones.

Additionally, one elderly man was evacuated from a home above the hillside as a precaution.
There were no injuries or medical complaints as a result of the slide.

Firefighters secured all utilities and requested that city building officials investigate the integrity of the structure. The area has been closed to the public.
A grading inspector and geologist were set to respond to the incident Monday morning.
