Palisades Hiker Hoisted By Firefighters After 'Medical Distress'

LAFD conducted the operation near the Leacock Trailhead Thursday afternoon.

PACIFIC PALISADES, CA —Firefighters conducted a hoist operation Thursday to rescue an 80-year-old hiker who was in what authorities called "moderate medical distress."

The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to an area near the Leacock Trailhead at around 2:25 p.m. Air crews located the man and began preparing an air hoist operation for hospital transport.

The LAFD did not offer more details about the nature of the man's distress, but noted he was not suffering from any trauma.
