PACIFIC PALISADES, CA — The National Weather Service issued a Red Flag Warning due to signs of critical fire weather in the western mountains of Los Angeles County, including Pacific Palisades.
The warning is in place until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 16 and impacts the coast of Malibu, Pacific Palisades and Brentwood as well as Ventura County. The Red Flag Warning indicates that the danger of fire weather is happening now or will occur soon.

"Strong, high pressure building into the Great Basin will support the first strong Santa Ana event of the season Tuesday night into Wednesday," the NWS said. "A combination of strong winds and low relative humidity can contribute to extreme fire behavior."

According to the NWS, humidity levels will be critically limited Tuesday evening and damaging winds will likely develop. This will cause dry weather on Wednesday which will support six or more hours of critical fire weather conditions.
Gusty winds will peak at 55 to 75 mph for wind-prone mountainous areas, with the strongest winds expected on Tuesday night through early afternoon on Wednesday. The NWS said if a wildfire occurs it is likely to spread quickly and will threaten life and property.
