Suzanne Hertzberg Speaking at the Palisades Branch Library, Thursday, October 20, 2016, at 6:30 p.m.

Suzanne Hertzberg will be discussing her new book: Katherine Joseph: Photographing an Era of Social Significance.

The Friends of the Palisades Library is pleased to present Suzanne Hertzberg, longtime Palisadian and author of Katherine Joseph: Photographing an Era of Social Significance. Hertzberg holds a Master of Professional Writing degree from the University of Southern California and has taught history and writing as well as working as a curriculum developer, grant writer, and editor. Her mother, Katherine Joseph, was a Roosevelt-era staff photographer for the International Ladies Garment Workers Union (ILGWU) who documented the golden age of organized labor and the contributions of American workers to the World War II home front, and whose images from a 1941 photojournalistic tour of Mexico reveal a nation at the intersection of tradition and modernity. Hertzberg’s biography presents her mother’s work within a rich personal and historical context to preserve a legacy of historical, artistic, and feminist significance. Books will be available for purchase. Admission is free.
