Officials say an unspecified equipment failure was to blame.

PALM DESERT, CA - An outage affected more than 1,500 Southern California Edison customers in Palm Desert Monday morning, but power was restored to all but a handful of addresses in less than two hours, according to the utility.
The blackout began at 6:29 a.m., affecting up to 1,561 customers, according to SCE spokeswoman Sally Jeun.
Crews were dispatched to make repairs following an unspecified equipment failure and had restored power to all but seven customers by 8:15 a.m., she said.
