THERMAL, CA – One person was airlifted to a hospital Tuesday after being freed from the wreckage of a crash in Thermal.

The two-vehicle crash was reported just after 7 a.m. near the intersection of Avenue 59 and Polk Street, just east of Jacqueline Cochran Regional Airport.Firefighters had to use extrication tools to get one person out of a crumpled vehicle, said April Newman of the Riverside County Fire Department.

The California Highway Patrol incident log indicates that a motorist was trying to pass another car and crashed into a work truck.Pipes that apparently spilled out of the truck blocked the roadway for a time, according to the log.

The City of Palm Desert will mark our nation’s independence on Saturday, July 4, 2026 with a festive celebration highlighted by a concert and fireworks at Civic Center Park.
The evening’s events officially kick off at 7:30pm at the park’s amphitheater with a free concert of pop favorites. At 9 p.m. the sky will light up with a spectacular 20-minute-long fireworks display synchronized to patriotic-themed songs simulcast on two local radio stations (to be announced).
A variety of food trucks and vendors will be on hand with tasty treats and cool beverages. Attendees may also bring picnic dinners, but alcoholic beverages, smoking, and portable barbeques are prohibited. Everyone is encouraged to bring blankets and chairs to enjoy the show, and a flashlight for safely exiting the park.
To protect public safety during the holiday celebration in the busy park, golf carts will not be allowed to operate inside park grounds on July 4. Private fireworks are illegal in Civic Center Park and throughout Palm Desert. The dog parks at Civic Center Park will also be closed that day because they lay within the pyrotechnics safety zone.
Civic Center Park is located at 73510 Fred Waring Drive (at the corner of San Pablo Avenue). Parking will be allowed at the park until the lots are full, usually by 5:30 – 6 p.m. Access to the park is from Fred Waring Drive.

&ldquo;Osteoarthritis of the knee is one of the most common forms of arthritis, particularly in people over the age of 40,&rdquo; says <a target="_blank" href="https://empirevein.com/en/our-team/dr-pushpinder-sivia/" rel="noopener nofollow">Dr. Pushpinder Sivia</a>, vascular surgeon at <a target="_blank" href="https://empirevein.com/en/" rel="noopener nofollow">Empire Vein &amp; Vascular Specialists</a>. &ldquo;It develops as cartilage within the joint breaks down over time, leading to pain, stiffness, and inflammation that can affect daily life.&rdquo;
Understanding Knee Osteoarthritis
Knee osteoarthritis develops over time as cartilage deteriorates. Without this protective cushioning, bones begin to rub against each other, contributing to inflammation, pain, and stiffness.&nbsp;The condition often affects adults over 40, as well as individuals with physically demanding jobs or active lifestyles.
