1 Critically Injured After Fiery, Rollover Crash On 10 Freeway In Riverside County: Cal Fire

DESERT CENTER, CA — One person was critically injured after a vehicle overturned and caught on fire Friday afternoon on the 10 Freeway near Desert Center, fire officials said.

The crash was reported just before 1 p.m. east of Red Cloud Road, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.

Firefighters responded to the crash and extinguished the blaze around 1:22 p.m.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a black Hyundai SUV traveling eastbound at unspecified rate of speed, west of Eagle Mountain, lost control and overturned into the westbound lanes where it landed on its roof and caught on fire, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Lanes on both sides were temporarily closed to land a helicopter. The crash victim, whose identity was not released, was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs.

Westbound and eastbound lanes were reopened as of 4 p.m.

The cause of the crash was under investigation.

No other injuries were reported.
