WHITEWATER, CA — At least one person died Monday afternoon in a crash along eastbound Interstate 10, near the southbound state Route 62 connector, in Whitewater, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Details are pending, but preliminary reports from the CHP dispatch log indicate that just before 2 p.m., a vehicle was spotted swerving on I-10 approaching the SR-62 connector.
A passenger in the vehicle told the CHP she was trying to steer the vehicle. It's unclear whether the driver suffered a medical emergency.

The vehicle eventually stopped, with at least one person going down an embankment, according to the CHP.
The incident remains under investigation.
