123 Drivers Cited In Palm Desert Amid Traffic Enforcement Operation

Officers also towed four vehicles during the operation, which fanned out across two nearby cities.

PALM DESERT, CA — A coordinated traffic enforcement operation conducted Thursday across three Coachella Valley cities resulted in more than 250 citations, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office.

The effort is part of an ongoing, multi-agency program launched in 2022 involving the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office Palm Desert and Thermal stations, along with the Beaumont Police Department, Banning Police Department, Cathedral City Police Department, Palm Springs Police Department and the Indio Police Department. The program aims to reduce fatal, injury and non-injury traffic collisions through targeted enforcement and public education.

From 6 a.m. to noon Jan. 15, a total of 22 law enforcement officers were deployed across the three contract cities served by the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station.

In the Palm Desert, officers issued 123 citations and towed three vehicles. In Indian Wells, 67 citations were issued and one vehicle was towed. Officers in Rancho Mirage issued 66 citations; no vehicles were towed.

Officials said similar traffic safety enforcement operations will continue throughout East County on a rotating, monthly basis.
