2 Men From Texas Arrested, Accused Of Robbery In RivCo: Sheriff

The two robbery suspects were found in Gardena and taken into custody on Thursday, authorities said.

PALM DESERT, CA — Two men were arrested Thursday after a man was robbed in Thousand Palms, authorities said.

On March 19, around 3:45 p.m., deputies from the sheriff's Palm Desert station responded to a report of a robbery in the 72000 block of Varner Road in the unincorporated area of Thousand Palms. When they arrived, a man reported being assaulted and having property taken from him during the incident, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

Investigators identified Deandre Gilliam, 24, and Kelvin Hampton, 25, both residents of Houston, Texas, as suspects, authorities said.

On Thursday, authorities located Gilliam and Hampton near the 14000 block of South Western Avenue in Gardena when a search warrant was served at that location. Both men were taken into custody without incident.

Gilliam and Hampton were booked into jail for robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, and multiple outstanding arrest warrants.

Both men are expected to appear in court on May 5 at Larson Justice Center in Indio, according to court records.

Authorities said an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
