50th Palm Desert Golf Cart Parade is Today on El Paseo

The 50th annual Palm Desert Golf Cart Parade will make its way down El Paseo today.

The theme is “Palm Desert on Parade -- Through the Decades ‘60s, ‘70s, ‘80s, ‘90s and Present Day.” The Palm Desert Rotary Club will serve a pancake breakfast, and the parade steps off at 1 p.m. at El Paseo and San Luis Rey Avenue.

It will feature members of USC’s marching band and the university’s equine mascot Traveler. Other participants include the Palm Springs Pipe Band, local marching bands and more than 100 floats and golf carts decorated by businesses, clubs and nonprofits.

Children’s activities and a cart show are also planned. The parade’s grand marshal is former Palm Desert mayor Jean Benson.
