6 Injured, Boy Airlifted After Overnight Crash Near Indio
An overnight crash involving three adults and three children in Indio has been turned over to authorities.
INDIO, CA — Six people were injured, one of them seriously, in a two-car collision on Wednesday night in Indio.
Just after 7:30 p.m., Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department arrived at the crash scene, at Avenue 48 and Dillon Road, where a Toyota Sienna and a Ford Fusion collided.
Four victims from inside the Toyota suffered the brunt of the injuries from this collision, officials say.

The Toyota driver, identified only as an adult woman, was taken to a local hospital by ambulance for precautionary evaluation. An 11-year-old boy, a rear seat passenger in the Toyota, was airlifted to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs and was listed in stable condition. Also in the Toyota, two other passengers, a female front passenger--a 14-year-old girl, and a 16-year- old boy, were taken to the hospital by ambulance for precautionary evaluation.
Two others were taken to the hospital with minor to moderate injuries, according to Cal Fire.

Police information officer Sgt. Abraham Plata said driving under the influence does not appear to be a factor in the crash.
The circumstances of the collision were not immediately available.
