INDIO, CA — The city of Indio has fined Goldenvoice, the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival operator, a total of $44,000 by the city of Indio for two artists breaking curfew during weekend two of the festival.
Electronic artist Anyma was fined $24,000 for ending his set at 1:09 a.m. on Friday, and Justin Bieber was fined $20,000 for going two minutes past his allowed time on Saturday, according to a city spokesperson.
Curfews are planned ahead of the music and arts festival and agreed upon by both the city and Goldenvoice, according to the city.
Both Indio and the concert management company have an established agreement under which the city imposes a $20,000 fine for any set exceeding the 1 a.m. curfew on Fridays and Saturdays, and midnight on Sundays, with an additional $1,000 for every minute after the first 5 minutes past the deadline.
No fines were issued for the first weekend of the music festival.
