Woman Struck Fatally Struck In RivCo By Train: Police

INDIO, CA — A woman was fatally struck by a train in Indio, police said Friday.

The fatal crash was reported shortly after 10:30 p.m. Thursday near Indio Boulevard west of Fred Waring Drive, according to the Indio Police Department.

Officers found a woman who sustained life-threatening injuries while attempting to pass a train on the railroad tracks for unknown reasons, according to the department. The woman, whose identity was not revealed, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation was ongoing.

The department reminded the public of the dangers of crossing railroad tracks and advised using designated crossings and nearby overpasses when traveling across railroad tracks.
