CATHEDRAL CITY, CA — In honor of Cathedral City's 30-year relationship with its sister city, Tequila, Jalisco, in Mexico, the 10th annual Taste of Jalisco festival was scheduled to start Friday with a family- friendly celebration its culture, arts and music.
"The Taste of Jalisco Festival is a reflection of Cathedral City's unique spirit — and a proud celebration of our vibrant Latino community. Our sister city relationship with Tequila, Jalisco, Mexico — the food, the music, the culture — it all comes together in a way that makes this festival truly stand out," Mayor Raymond Gregory said in a statement.
The festival will take place from Friday until Sunday at 68600 E. Palm Canyon Drive, kicking off at 5 p.m. Friday with a raising of the Mexican flag in front of City Hall, at 68700 Avenue Lalo Guerrero. In attendance will be the mayor, members the city council and local organizers.
It will feature live entertainment, including "lucha libre" wrestling and a Selena tribute performance, a fair and carnival, an artisan market, food vendors and tequila tasting.
Free admission will be available for Cathedral City residents, military, first responders and teachers all day on Friday and Saturdays and Sundays before 5 p.m. with a valid ID or a utility bill. It is limited to one entry per guest, organizers said.
Hours will be held from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday, from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. the following day and the final day will conclude from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.
