PALM SPRINGS, CA — Comedian Kathy Griffin is taking up residency next year at the historic Palm Springs Plaza Theatre, it was announced Monday.
The no-holds performer is bringing her "Can You Handle This Heat? The Kathy Griffin Palm Springs Residency" to the Plaza on January 31, February 26, and March 26, 2027.
According to organizers, the shows will mark Griffin's first-ever residency anywhere in the world. With her long-form humor, each performance is expected be a singular experience with varied nightly content.
“Kathy Griffin is one of the most fearless comedians alive, and we couldn’t be prouder to give her first-ever residency a home right here in Palm Springs,” said John Bolton, SVP and general manager, OVG/Plaza Theatre. “Can You Handle This Heat is the kind of bold, unexpected programming that defines what The Plaza Theatre is all about.”
Griffin is bringing serious comedy cred to the desert. She is a Guinness World Records holder for starring in more televised stand-up specials than any comedian in history, according to event organizers. She has also sold out venues worldwide — from Carnegie Hall and Madison Square Garden to the Sydney Opera House and the Kennedy Center.
Her 2013 album "Kathy Griffin: Calm Down Gurrl" placed her alongside Whoopi Goldberg and Lily Tomlin as one of the only female comedians to win the Grammy for Best Comedy Album.
Tickets for "Can You Handle This Heat? The Kathy Griffin Palm Springs Residency" go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, May 8, via Ticketmaster and palmspringsplazatheatre.com.
The Plaza Theatre, which reopened in December 2025 after a decade-long closure, is located at 128 S Palm Canyon Drive in Palm Springs. For more information, visit palmspringsplazatheatre.com.
