COACHELLA, CA — Northbound lanes of State Route 86 in Coachella were temporarily shut down Thursday morning after a multi-vehicle crash including two semi trucks, fire officials said.
The crash was reported just before 4 a.m. near the Dillon Road on-ramp, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
When first responders arrived they encountered a semi truck lying on its side and a vehicle both fully engulfed in flames.
All of the motorists involved in the crash were able to self-extricate. No injuries were reported though some complained of pain, officials said.
The No. 1 lane on SR-86 reopened at about 10:41 a.m., according the California Highway Patrol.
CHP is investigating the crash.
