INDIO, CA — Indio police issued 39 citations during a DUI checkpoint, authorities said Tuesday.
The checkpoint was held from 6 p.m. Monday to 1 a.m. the following day on Highway 111, west of Granada Drive, according to the Indio Police Department.
Officers screened 625 vehicles and issued 39 citations for various reasons, including for driving without a license, driving with a suspended license and child seat citations.
The location was determined based on impaired driving-related crashes.
Funding was provided by a grant from the Cannabis Tax Fund Grant Program.
