INDIO, CA — A Riverside County Probation Department employee was arrested over the weekend on suspicion of having an "inappropriate relationship" with a juvenile inmate, the sheriff's department announced Monday.
Nancy Salcedo, 43, was taken into custody Sunday night in Indio, according to jail records. She has since been released, and formal court charges against her were not filed as of Monday afternoon.
An investigation into Salcedo began on Thursday, July 9, after the probation department contacted the sheriff's department about molestation allegations.
On Sunday, July 12, sheriff's investigators served a search warrant at Salcedo’s Indio residence, where she was taken into custody without incident.
She was booked into Riverside's Robert Presley Detention Center on suspicion of annoying and molesting a juvenile, and unauthorized computer access, according to the sheriff's department.
Further details were not released.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Special Victims Unit believes there may be additional victims and is encouraging anyone with more information regarding the investigation to contact Investigator Myling Sam at 951-955-1700 or sheriff’s dispatch at 951-776-1099.
