DESERT HOT SPRINGS, CA — More than 3,000 homes were impacted by a power outage in Desert Hot Springs amid extreme temperatures Friday afternoon in the Coachella Valley.
According to the Southern California Edison website, 4,935 customers were initially impacted by the outage when it was reported around 1:30 p.m. near Bubbling Wells Road east of Yerxa Road.
As of 5 p.m., roughly 3,700 customers remained without power.
The cause of the power outage was not immediately available.
An SCE spokesperson said "safely restoring power" is a priority.
