LA QUINTA, CA — Shake Shack, the internationally popular American fast-casual restaurant chain known for burgers, chicken sandwiches, hot dogs and milkshakes, is opening another location in the Coachella Valley.
The Greater Coachella Valley Chamber of Commerce is inviting the public to an Aug. 12 ribbon-cutting for the new Shake Shack at 78772 Highway 111 in La Quinta. The ceremony begins at 9 a.m. and coincides with the restaurant's opening.
The site is the former location of Tuscano's & Brewquinta restaurant, which permanently closed last year.
The La Quinta venue is Shake Shack's second Coachella Valley location. The chain also operates a store at 73-199 El Paseo, Suite A, in Palm Desert.
Since the original Shack Shack opened in 2004 in New York City's Madison Square Park, the company has expanded to over 670 locations, including about 430 in the United States, and over 240 internationally. The company is publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol SHAK.
On April 1, the company announced plans to scale to 1,500 stores, with CEO Rob Lynch saying "Shake Shack is entering a significant phase of growth ... ."
According to the company, the increase is being driven by a technology strategy designed to improve core systems and enhance AI capabilities.
