Red Lobster In Coachella Valley Shutting Its Doors After 14 Years (patch.com) — Palm Desert diners are losing their Red Lobster on Highway 111 and Fred Waring Drive, as the chain confirmed the location will close on Sept. 6 after 14 years. Employees say they were only recently informed, and the nearest Red Lobster options will soon be in Riverside and Temecula as the company continues trimming locations after bankruptcy.
2. Riverside County Sheriff's Dept. To Continue Providing Courses At College Of The Desert (patch.com) — Riverside County supervisors have approved a new agreement keeping the Sheriff's Department running Public Safety Academy courses at College of the Desert's Palm Desert campuses through 2031. Training for future deputies, firefighters and EMTs will continue at the Monterey Avenue main campus and the East County Training Center, with the county covering operational costs while the college provides facilities and student services.
3. Firebirds sign goaltender Logan Terness to one-year deal (kesq.com) — The Coachella Valley Firebirds, based in Palm Desert, have signed goaltender Logan Terness to a one-year AHL contract after his strong 2025-26 season with the Kansas City Mavericks. The 23-year-old impressed during a brief stint with the Firebirds and brings solid college and ECHL credentials as the team shapes its roster for the coming campaign.
4. Palm Desert Camera Attack Leads to Disturbing Discovery (nbcpalmsprings.com) — A confrontation over a vandalized Flock camera in Palm Desert has sparked a wider investigation into hidden recordings of teenage girls and raised fresh concerns about privacy across the Coachella Valley.
