DESERT HOT SPRINGS, CA — Firefighters are battling a growing blaze in Desert Hot Springs after a fully engulfed vehicle fire spread to neighboring cars and a building early Monday afternoon, authorities said.
Emergency personnel responded at 12:54 p.m. to the 17400 block of Ben-Mar Drive following reports of a burning vehicle, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.
Upon arrival, crews found a vehicle fully involved in flames, which quickly extended to nearby vehicles and a structure.
Fire officials requested additional engines to assist with containment, bringing in mutual aid crews from the Cathedral City and Palm Springs fire departments.
No injuries or evacuations were immediately reported. The cause of the initial fire remains under investigation.
