Blood Drive To Be Held In Coachella Valley On Sept. 19

Those who are unable to donate on Sept. 19 can do so at one of two centers in Rancho Mirage and La Quinta from Sept. 13 to Sept. 19.

PALM SPRINGS, CA — Two nonprofit organizations will co-host a pair of mobile blood drives in the Coachella Valley later this month to prevent a possible blood shortage, officials said.

The Coachella Valley Community Blood Drive will take place from 9 a.m. through 2 p.m. Sept. 19 at Palm Springs Police Department Training Center, located at 200 S. Civic Drive Room C, and at the Palm Desert Family YMCA at 43930 San Pablo Ave.

Those who are unable to donate on Sept. 19 can do so at one of two centers — the Rancho Mirage donor center at 42390 Bob Hope Drive, and the La Quinta donor center at 46-660 Washington St. — from Sept. 13-19, officials said.

"This campaign is a wonderful example of Rotary's commitment to being people of action," Kevin Taylor, community service chair for the Rotary Club of Palm Springs Sunup, said in a statement. "By rolling up our sleeves, we can help save lives while also generating support for Find Food Bank. One act of giving can have an incredible ripple effect throughout our community."

The Rotary Clubs of the Coachella Valley, in partnership with LifeStream Blood Bank, will host the event to increase blood supplies and support Find Food Bank, a regional food bank that addresses food insecurity, during September's Hunger Action Month, which officials said is a nationwide effort to raise awareness and inspire action to address food insecurity.

Officials said donors should use campaign code 9SUR when registering online. Registration is available at lstream.org/rotarycv.
