Palm Springs Mini-MBA Course Focuses On AI (patch.com) — Palm Desert small business owners and entrepreneurs can enroll in a free 10-week mini MBA at Cal State San Bernardino's Palm Desert campus, with sessions starting September 18. The program, offered with the local Entrepreneurial Resource Center, blends core business skills with practical training on AI, technology, human resources, finance and sustainable success.
   

2. Palm Desert Library Project Cost Jumps From $30 Million to $45 Million (nbcpalmsprings.com) — Palm Desert's new library is now projected to cost about $45 million, up from the originally approved $30 million, and the City Council will vote Thursday on bringing in a new construction firm to rein in expenses. The project would replace the existing library on the College of the Desert campus, raising questions about scope, inflation, and how to avoid placing extra burden on local taxpayers.

Arts Committee backs $25,000 Plein Air Festival sponsorship, picks student contest theme – The Palm Desert Post (thepalmdesertpost.com) — Palm Desert's Cultural Arts Committee is backing continued $25,000 city sponsorship of the California Desert Plein Air Festival while also setting 'Through the Magical Door' as the 2027 student art and essay contest theme. Members are exploring moving the exhibition from UCR Palm Desert Center to the Palm Desert Library for better visibility, with Palm Desert K–12 students invited to submit entries by February.
   

4. Palm Desert Condo Murder Suspect Vicky Kim Arrested in Korean News (koreadaily.com) — Palm Desert residents are learning more about a homicide inside The Enclave condo community on Gateway Drive, where 65-year-old Vicky Kim was arrested and now faces murder charges. Deputies found a victim with fatal injuries at the scene, and investigators are still working to determine the relationship, motive, and cause of death as Kim heads to Riverside County Superior Court on September 10.
   

5. Palm Desert Ice Cream Shop Owner Recalls Responding to 9/11 (nbcpalmsprings.com) — A Palm Desert ice cream shop owner is sharing powerful memories from his days as a New York City firefighter responding to 9/11, ahead of the 25th anniversary. Now running Leopard's Ice Cream in town, he reflects on the harrowing ferry ride to Manhattan, the camaraderie among firefighters, and the surge of patriotism he wishes the country could recapture.
