INDIO, CA — An injured hiker was rescued by helicopter from a remote area in northeast Indio Thursday morning, fire officials said.
The incident was reported around 8:15 a.m. Rescue crews found the patient who sustained moderate injuries, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.
A helicopter flew the patient to a landing zone where they were transported to a local hospital by ground ambulance, fire officials said.
The cause of the hiker's injuries was not known.
