Palm Desert Library To Host Story Series For Emergency Preparedness

PALM DESERT, CA — First responders and Palm Desert city staff will gather this month to educate families and children about safety and preparedness during the Palm Desert Library's Emergency Preparedness Storytime Series event.

September is "National Preparedness Month" which reminds individuals, families and communities to plan for unpredictable events like wildfires, floods and storms.

The free event will take place at the Palm Desert Library located at 73-300 Fred Waring Drive, with the goal of educating and aiding community members in planning for emergencies by hosting a weekly series throughout the month to share stories to children ages 3 to 5.

This series will feature guests who work as first responders and city staff from Palm Desert's Public Works Department allowing children to explore emergency vehicles and learn tips about how to stay safe during an emergency, according to library officials.

Families will also be able to engage in conversations and ask questions regarding emergency preparedness.

The lineup of guests for the event is as follows:

— Sept. 15: Pedro the Penguin from the American Red Cross;

— Sept. 22: Riverside County Sheriff's Department; and

— Sept. 29: City of Palm Desert Public Works Department.
